Vermont Adventure Tours offers ice climbing in Central Vermont, Smuggler's Notch, and Lake Willoughby, VT. Our expert, certified climbing guides provide a safe, educational, and enjoyable atmosphere to learn and climb in. We offer both private guiding and group ice climbing programs. The conditions in the Northeast offer excellent opportunities to our clients to get out and enjoy the ice.

Courses Offered:

Introduction to Ice Climbing:

Ever thought of how cool it would be to climb a frozen waterfall?  We can make it happen.  Our skilled, enthusiastic instructors will teach you the techniques necessary to climb on low-angled beginner ice climbs.  No experience necessary!  We will supply you with all the technical equipment and instruction to allow for an exciting, safe, and rewarding day on the ice.  Please see below for rates or contact us for more info. This course is offered in both private guiding and open enrollment formats.

 

Intermediate Ice Climbing:

For climbers who have already been on the ice a few days, or who are experienced rock climbers, we can offer more challenging, exciting terrain to explore. Courses can be focused on climbing technique, technical skills, or destination climbing. Our instructors will work with you to tailor the course to your needs.

Open Enrollment Courses Offered:

Beginner Ice Climbing:

This one-day course focuses on equipment use and climbing technique. Students will first learn how to use crampons and ice axes, how to tie into the climbing rope, and how to belay. Students will then spend the rest of the day climbing on different angled terrain ranging from 45 degrees to vertical ice. The course is a great introduction to the sport and is designed for someone with very little experience. See below for scheduled dates. (Minimum of 3 people, Maximum of 6 people)

Cost of Course: $125.00 (includes technical equipment rentals)
