Timber Cruiser Course ( 3 day course):
The Timber Cruiser course is an adventure based experiential course, devoted to learning primitive
woodcraft skills, survival knowledge and back country wisdom through actual hands on experience.

The Timber Cruiser is a non- intimidating course oriented toward the beginner. Our goals for this five-
day wilderness skills course is to take an intensive look at our role as responsible humans in the
setting of remote wild lands. While trekking through the most untouched and pristine portions of the
Green mountain national Forest (no trails, roads, or signs of human activity), we will begin learning the
“wilderness way”. Our method of instruction is through hands on adventure. Today’s outdoor arena is
filled with high tech gadgets that in some ways take away the real vitality of what the forest means. In
this course we ignore the existence of these gadgets and thrive on the accomplishments of our own
wisdom and hands. While surrounded by the ultimate classroom, nature, we will practice and use newly
acquired skills such as using fire as a tool, building a fire with no matches, advanced wilderness
cooking techniques, identifying flora and fauna and their significance, back country navigation,
primitive shelter construction, environmental issues and concerns, and much more.
