or over to participate.
A Unique long distance canoe trip dedicated to learning not only canoe craft but trout by the fly as well.
This is a non-intimidating three-day course directed towards beginners. Our quest will bring us to the
northern waters of Vermont, which meanders through the farmlands and forests of the famed
Northeast Kingdom. Our goals will be to learn the fine skills of canoe camping and fly fishing, and
there is no better place to acquire such talents than the gentle runs, frisky rapids, and remote
campsites of Vermont. Participants will be educated in the ways of the River Runner, such as how to
pack, paddle, portage, set up practical camps, and cook mouth watering meals. While Beavers,
Kingfishers, and Otters look on we will begin discovering the delicate craft of fly-fishing. Our quarry
will be the elusive and stunning trout. Our adventures will lead us up tributaries, through deep clear
pools, and stunning riffles where we will learn to cast, tie knots, choose flies, study Entomology, read
trout water, and to land the exquisite wild brook, rainbow, or brown trout. As well as learning the
skills of fly fishing, time will be spent educating participants about the environmental responsibilities
and safety requirements of the fly fisher. This age-old thrill is one that will never be forgotten and will
send each participants well on their way to becoming a master adventure angler. Nights will be spent

Survival/Traditional Skills Expeditions:
|
Timber Cruiser:
Co-ed, Ages 13-16
The Timber Cruiser course is an adventure based experiential course, devoted to learning primitive
woodcraft skills, survival knowledge and back country wisdom through actual hands on experience.
The Timber Cruiser is a non- intimidating course oriented toward the beginner. Our goals for this five-
day wilderness skills course is to take an intensive look at our role as responsible humans in the
setting of remote wild lands. While trekking through the most untouched and pristine portions of the
Green mountain national Forest (no trails, roads, or signs of human activity), we will begin learning
the “wilderness way”. Our method of instruction is through hands on adventure. Today’s outdoor
arena is filled with high tech gadgets that in some ways take away the real vitality of what the forest
means. In this course we ignore the existence of these gadgets and thrive on the accomplishments
of our own wisdom and hands. While surrounded by the ultimate classroom, nature, we will practice
and use newly acquired skills such as using fire as a tool, building a fire with no matches, advanced
wilderness cooking techniques, identifying flora and fauna and their significance, back country
navigation, primitive shelter construction, environmental issues and concerns, and much more.
