Wilderness First Aid:
"Founded in 1976 as a school dedicated to teaching Wilderness and Emergency Medicine, SOLO
(Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities) is the only school of its kind offering an educational, research,
and conference center to both the international outdoor rescue and emergency medical communities as
well as the local rural communities of New England."

SOLO Wilderness First Aid Courses
|
Due to the nature of Wilderness First Aid courses, we do not offer last-minute courses. All of our Wilderness First Aid classes must be set in advance. If the dates on the Open Enrollment Page do not correspond conveniently to your calendar, CONTACT US to schedule special dates for your group. We can not schedule a WFA course without AT LEAST a two month notice and we will only schedule with a MINIMUM of eight participants.
|
Participants will be involved in life-like Scenarios created to test their new-found knowledge in WFA. In this picture, one of our instructors is acting out a scenario.... notice the Thumbs Up!
|
The participants in this WFA course are learning to treat hypothermia while in the backcountry.
|
Here at Vermont Adventure Tours, 90% of our
staff carry some form of a Nationally
recognized Wilderness Medicine Certification
from SOLO. We believe SOLO provides the
best curriculum for those interested in
leading others in the wilderness, those who
plan on taking any kind of extended personal
excursions in the backcountry, or anyone
who is just looking to further their knowledge
of wilderness skills.
For these reasons, we are proud to offer
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) courses
through our SOLO certified Wilderness
First Aid Instructors. Course material
includes CPR Certification, the
understanding of using wilderness
materials to treat backcountry injuries, and
knowing how to identify common illnesses
and injuries while in a wilderness setting
and at least two hours away from definitive
medical care.
